Hello, my name is Dan Twyman. I have been an actor, coach, writer for many years now. When I first heard that there was a service on the internet that helped actors, I signed up thinking I would save postage and headshots by emailing images to casting agents and using the online service as a new way to obtain acting jobs. I spent hours in front of the computer and felt excited that such a service existed. After about a month of hard work, I still had no replies. I went to a SAG seminar that featured three well known Casting Agents. I asked the Agents in front of a large group of actors, if they had ever heard of this service that claimed to send actors images via email for casting consideration. All three of the casting agents said they had never heard of the service. I realized I had been taken for $100.00 in fees by the online service. Because I had spent so much time, I was furious. In response, I sat down and taught myself to build a website called www.artistwebsite.com I spent months linking the site to other sites and promoting it via trade publications and online banners etc. Within one year, I was number one on Google under the term "film casting" and my traffic rose to over 10,000 hits per day. I wanted to make sure actors were getting something out of the service, and I wanted to make sure they were not being ripped off. I asked for $25.00 per year and in return, I set up web pages with the actors headshots and resumes, and I promoted the site to casting agents via mail and internet emails. I included actors images in the postcards we mailed to casting agents and SAG Franchised agents. I also started a school for actors and kept the costs low, and I provided affordable headshots for actors as well. I proved that we could help actors get work, agents, auditions etc., and it was all done at very low costs to the actors. I started getting thank you emails from actors saying that they laneded an agent or they landed a job as a result of the work I was doing. I myself was able to go on auditions and get a few acting jobs from the site I created. After years of using an old style webpage builder, the site had a fairly good look, but was behind the times compared to other sites. We had signed up so many actors over the years and kept their images online without asking for any additional monies, that a large number of the email addresses we had, were becoming out of date and contacting the actors became a chore. In 2007, we decided to change service providers and re-vamp the look of the site. We also created a new way for actors to pay for the service, and in the tradition of the site, we kept the cost as low as possible. Our goals have not changed. We now provide casting notices, web pages for headshot and resume, and other useful info for actors to use to get more acting jobs. with a total cost of $3.50 per month to belong to the site, and the continued web presence. Artistwebsite.com continues to be an alternative to the high end expensive sites that do nothing more than cost actors money. We are not interested in profiting from your dreams as an actor. We want to continue to support actors in any way we can, as we ourselves are actors and production people. As long as it is possible, we will provide this service for the lowest possible fee's. If you would like to help us, refer any actors to this site, and if you have a service that pertains to the entertainment industry, ask us how to advertise your service on this site. If you are asked for a large sum of money by someone claiming to be a manager, run from them as fast as you can. Agents and managers do not receive any money until you land an acting job. A web service such as ours, can be maintained by volunteers and the cost to host the website itself. We will also donate webpages to actors that are living the starving artist lifestyle. If you would like to sponsor an actor, the total cost is $3.50 per month. Thats three dollars and fifty cents per month. Easy to sign up: CLICK HERE If you are new to acting, don't let anyone mislead you. Here is the process: 1. Headshots 2. Resume 3. Acting Classes 4. Obtain an agent 5. Promote yourself to the industry. This formula has not changed in years and will probably never change. If you need help, please call or email. 310-328-5405 EMAIL
